Equity Securities and Prices

Equity securities refer to stocks, ETFs, mutual funds. S8 Money requires all securities to be traded to be added to the user's data.
The Equity Securities
page allows security maintenance using self-explanatory screens. A few crucial points are noted below.
Security addition can be done using Look Up
or Manual Entry
. Most US and Canadian stock market securities (stocks / ETFs) can be looked up. If a security is not available it must be manually added. Mutual funds will require manual addition.
To lookup Canadian securities use .TO
suffix. For example to lookup TD on TSX lookup TD.TO
.
It is important to get the currency of the security correct.
Prices for most US and Canadian stocks and ETFs are provided through the market data feature. The prices for securities you hold are downloaded during login or when you add a new security. To refresh security prices at other times during your session click the Refresh Market Data
button.
For securities not priced with the market data feed, the app allows manually adding prices using the Equity Prices
page. This page also provided self-explanatory forms to maintain manual security prices.
Ensure you enter the correct currency for the security price. This should match the security currency.
Prices are maintained against symbols not security IDs. If you update the symbol of a security, the corresponding manual price entry will not change. You will need to add an entry for the new symbol and potentially delete the old one.
Securities that are manually added will need prices to be manually added for valuation. If any of such securities are later priced through market data feed you will see the newer live price
checkbox ticked. In such cases you can now remove the manual price entry.
Watch out for symbol mismatch between a manually added security and what S8 Money market feed might have it as.
The manual price feature can also be used to override market data should need arise.
